[EZLINK] India a Super Power - JAI HIND

Hi all,

I believe Srinath has given one of the better suggestions on this issue. No
doubt it's good to read all the good news about India nowadays. But the
reality is that not everyone is benefiting from it. And we as part of the
more fortunate must do our part in helping the less fortunate. I'm part on
an informal international group that go around running our own projects,
sharing resources/ideas and assisting others in their own projects. I'll
take Srinath's suggestion a little further by sharing how to go about taking
action.

1. Kalvi Education fund - For about 2 years, a couple of friends and
myself ran a small fund called to help over 125 poors student in a village
in Pudukottai Dist, Tamil Nadu. We even had overseas donors. Alas we had to
stop it due to not having someone on the ground to manage it.

2. Mithilaipatti Senior Citizens fund. - My father started a fund
after seeing the plight of senior citizens in our ancestral village. So, we
gathered some fund and distrbute Rs300 a month to about 15 old couples. (yes
Rs 300 a month is enough for food and electricity). This is managed by a
relative in a nearby city.

So, the conclusion is - it doesn't take much money to help the poor. All it
takes is some effort. Personally I don't propose large scale funds targetted
at helping a lot of people as mismanagement usually happens. My suggestion
is for you to identify a needy group (probably in your ancestral village,
your hometown, etc), get someone trustworthy on the ground to manage and
distribute the funds, gather the funds here and send it over.

If you need help planning, preparatory documents, checklists, photos of
activities, etc, please contact me and I'll glady do what I can. BTW, my
father and I are Malaysians. If we can do it, so can anyone.

Best regards

Thanneermalai Lakshmanan (Thanneer)
