This is regarding lawyer services to buy a HDB house.
if you find a good property agent and a financial
institute (banks), they will arrange a law firm to
deal with all the transactions (on behalf of you) with
the seller of the house and CPF board etc. you just
have to follow their instructions. you just can rely
on them.
every bank will have this arrangement with law firms.
you don't have to arrange by yourself.
Regarding renovation; if you get a recently renovated
flat, it is hassle free. you can move in with a
little bit of painting. if not, you have to take out
extra money from your pocket (you may not get a bank
loan immediately for renovation) and it is also
headache for us (expats) to deal with these renovation
contractors. they will quote cheap and later come up
with lots of "extras" when they commence the work.
if you ask my advice, it is better is go for 5 years
old flats in new estates, they are almost all
renovated. you will get a better deal for your money.
