Cameroon Highlands is about 220 Kms from KL. About 5 hours journey, but pretty good roads. I assume that you are NOT driving on your own. In that case, there are not many bus options available to you. There is only one Bus service from KL, 3 or 4 times a day. Not too good bus, but airconditioned.
Camerron Highlands is very pleasant, cool, and full of tea gardens, strawberry gardens and full of greenery. You can watch the sunrise from the highest point of cameroon highlands. Very nice place to unwind.
Hotels wise, we stayed at Hotel Equitorial, but we had vouchers to support us. Rates over weekends or public holidays are more. ask for net net price...
You can go for day trip starting from camerron highlands too..prices are reasonably priced and there are diff packages.
Food wise, for veggies, is tough. be preapred with your own food.
there are lot of taxies which you can hire at rates of RM 15 / hour (negotiate hard).
2 days should be good, to relax, unwind ...
and keep half a day to travel to and half a day to travel from cameroon highlands to KL.
Clubbing it with Genting is OK. But do Genting first, and then cameroon highlands.. Total of at least 5 days for both would be ideal..

PS : I had gone about 2 yrs back to Cameroon highlands, and there might be changes which might have come about now. But the overall impression is positive and remains as above...
