1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Responsible for monitoring the flow of production transactions using
various protocols including: FTP, HTTP, and VAN. Provide 1st level
problem resolution. Able to prioritize the severity of complex
messenger issues, and escalate to Tier 2 as necessary.
2. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
A. Consistently monitor message flow on all messaging platforms.
B. Research any errors encountered and perform level 1
troubleshooting and problem resolution.
C. Accurately and comprehensively document all events that occur.
D. Use appropriate tools and resources to troubleshoot and solve
problems.
E. Maintain ownership of problem notification and communication
until problem is resolved.
F. Responsible to fully "hand off" operations explicitly to the
following shift at each shift change, including status of any issues
being worked.
3. NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
A. Other duties as required.
4. WORKING CONDITIONS
A. General climate controlled office environment.
B. Low noise level.
C. Prolonged sitting and repetitive motion due to extended
computer use.
D. Occasional exposure to production, distribution area working
conditions, including noise, and dust exposure and lift truck
traffic.
E. Stress related to monitoring numerous platforms
simultaneously.
F. Some travel required.
5. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
A. Ability to see, and speak, hear, write, and understand
English.
B. Sustained attention to detail.
C. Ability to read and analyze data and other written
information.
D. Minimal physical exertion.
E. Ability to work off-hours or extended hours when needed.
6. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
A. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline,
or equivalent business and technical experience required.
B. Minimum of 1 year transaction monitoring experience in
business and/or EDI systems, a minimum of 3 months programming
experience specifically on EDI systems.
C. Working knowledge of Biztalk Server 2004 and the following
associated tools: HAT, MOM, and BAM.
D. Previous experience with SAP.
E. Experience with ASCII X.12 EDI standards and processes.
F. Experience using XML.
G. Working knowledge of core I/T technologies, including client
server, electronic commerce, EDI, web development, CTI, WAN, LAN,
telephony, and IVR.
H. Conceptual understanding of business processes, including
orders, order acknowledgements, inventory, manufacturing, and call
center.
G. Complete small, well-defined projects with moderate
supervision.
H. Work towards proficiency in selected areas of monitoring.
I. Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
J. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
K. Must be a team player, who is also flexible, collegial, and
enthusiastic.
L. Ability to react to change productively and handle other
tasks as required.
