Hi Bala,

To over come your problem, if you¢re using DataReader don¢t use. you¢re trying to do some complex displays using country codes in Client Side try to use Dataset and Data Adapter.

DataAdapter explicitly open the connection and closes the connection as and when you required and you many not have this problem.

Dataset Provides an In-memory representation of the Data in the form of DataTable,DataRow and DataColumn use these then you may not have this problem.

One more way to handled this problem is use JavaScript array .

1) Set Auto Post Back = false

or you can add something like

dropdown1.Attributes.Add("onchange", "AssignValue();")

Put Something like below

and then in javascript for "Onchange" event in Drop Down List HTML part

var strCountry = e.options[e.selectedIndex].value;
document.getElementById("textbox1").value = strCountry
}

You can use Ajax, it extracts data from the database but updates only a part of page...say only textbox or dropdown list or a frame.

Bala,

You can use AJAX without autopostback.

Onchange of the dropdownlist you can use the
XMLHTTPRequest object to get the value for country.
Then display it in a label/span.

to get an idea of implementing AJAX.
Its not exactly what you are looking for, but will
help you.

One way to work around for this is u need to create a
array in the code behind page with respective values
and then use javascript to display text in on change
of ddl.

as per the singapore rule you cannot put ur money in CPF only when you are in PR. once you get PR then you can put ur money in CPF. it may b helpful for you to buy house, and many stuff etc.. you can go abroad anywhere when you are in PR... but i think it is the right time to you to apply for pr bcoz u have been in EP for more than 2 years... all the best for u..

[EZLINK] Issue regarding agreement with Maid Agencies

Hi,
I just want to share my views about the situation I
met with one of the maid agency in singapore. We got a
transfer maid from the agency and gave $800 as a agent
amount. But somehow or other, we are not satisfied
with the maid and we sent her back after 10 days. So,
the agency transferred another maid to us and said
that the maid will stay for 1 year.
We accepted and took her. Three months later, the
maid said that she wanted to go back to her native
place. So, we have paid about $800 for just a 4
months. The agency answered to us that they will
replace with another maid.
Now, for us we need not want any maid now since we
felt a lot with 2 maids. also, if we take a new maid,
we need to teach her all the duties and all which is
very irritating as a working men have already got lot
of engagements in office too.

Finally, we want to drop the contract with the
agency. Will the agency refund some amount to us since
we were in contract with her for only 4 months that
too the agency fail to keep their promises?

Is there anyone felt the same situation?
