Main Duties /Responsibilities:
The position is for an Analyst Developer based in Singapore. The main responsibility is to provide development and production support for a number of critical Product Control applications
Development Requirements
The Data Services applications are a suite of Sybase databases, running on Unix, which receive trade and position data from various sources. This data is valued, enriched, reformatted and sent to other applications for the calculation and validation of the profit and loss. There is an active programme of enhancement and rationalisation with which the candidate will be fully involved. As such the candidate should have good structured project experience, and be able to be involved in all aspects of the development lifecycle from design though to implementation.
Support Criteria
Data Services processing is batch driven. First line support is based in Singapore. The candidate will be expected to understand the complexities of the applications and batch and act as second line support in resolving issues that impact the overnight. Support issues will need to be investigated, corrected and released as part of a structured programme of batch improvements.
A reasonable understanding of banking products and lifecycles is expected, although this may have been gained outside investment banking;
- Investigation/Resolution of Production issues.
- Escalation of major incidents
- Taking ownership of any overnight batch issues
While most support requirements will be during the working day candidates should also expect to deal with production support issues outside normal working hours.
Essential Technical/ Business Skills & Knowledge:
Unix – 4 + years
Sybase – 4 + years
C/C++
Perl
Unix scripting
Relational database skills – best practices
Full project lifecycle experience
Some understanding of banking/derivative products
Desirable:
Oracle
Clearcase Version Control tool: Unix and NT
Batch Scheduling System such as Control M, Autosys
HTML
XML
Unix and/or DB administration
