[EZLINK] Deceiving Housing Agent, need advice

Singapore is seeing a major boom in the real estate market and I
believe, expatriates are the most affected ones. Though newspapers quote
a surge in rent by 20-30 % but practically it has gone up by more than
50 to 70%. I am sure many of us must have gone through some or other
experience with the realtors in this phase. I wish to share my bitter
experience with a housing agent and seek your suggestions and comments.

I arrived in Singapore 5 years ago and spent 2 years in a HDB flat
before renting a 2 bedroom condominium apartment, After my initial
contract with my house owner Mdm A I had agreement for another year but
with a new rental rate. By Dec 06, my term was going to expire and this
time I decided to switch to a 3 bedroom unit, however by this time the
rental went sky high and much much beyond my budget, I thought of
continuing in the current unit by compromising on space, I discussed
this with Mdm A with whom I enjoy good relationship, she was considerate
and kindly agreed to allow me an extension of stay for a short term, of
course with a higher rent consistent with new market. No contract was
signed.

Problem occurred when Mr B stepped in, Mr B is a housing agent who
learnt about our housing need from the condo security guard, he offered
his services to help us find a new house. We trusted him by sharing with
him the information regarding our current status. but instead of showing
us houses, Mr. B, somehow fished out Mdm A's contact details and
approached her with new clients. Mdm A, declined initially since she
wanted her current tenants (We) to finalise first.

However, Mr B brought one client and offered Mdm A unbelievably
higher rent, he also persuaded Mdm A to drive us out so that the new
client can occupy the unit. Mdm A though quite considerate towards us
but is tempted by the rates this agent has offered.

When we contacted Mr B regarding this issue, he sternly stated that he
is merely doing his business, he also declined to show us anymore houses
because we have not paid him any money.

Friends!! You can understand how difficult the situation has become.
Can this Forum comment where do I stand legally and where I can
express my greivance against this agent who has unethically breached the
trust and seems to be charging even for showing us houses.
