I received couple of queries to know " If a matching blood group a criteria for blood test".
Answer is NO.
This test is for tissue type matching(called HLA Typing)
Criteria for test is very simple- Any healthy person between age group 18 to 60.

My relative , Mr. Girish, has recently been diagnosed with leukemia (blood cancer). He undergone chemotherapy but according to the doctors his real chance of survival is through a bone marrow transplant from a matching donor.
Unfortunately his sibling's blood test didn't match with his tissue typing and now the
search is for matching donor.
I kindly appeal to all of you ,if possible, please participate a blood test drive organized as NUH. Date, Venue mentioned below.
It will take just 5 minutes of you to do two simple steps which will give Girish a
hope of survival!!
1) Fill up Registration form
2) Provide blood sample via finger prick.
Please bring alongwith you NRIC,EP for registration.
Incase if it's not possible for you to attend this drive please inform me.Another day can be arranged suitbale to you.
Please help to spread this message among your friends & relatives on behalf of me to participate in this blood test drive.
