Hi,
Now Google has come up with good tool to convert word to pdf.
The only hitch is that you need to upload your document to googles site for conversion.
So if the doc is highly confidential then I will not do that. Else its good to use that.

Try the above link. It can convert word to PDF and that too for free
(Its not evaluation).
But I dont know abt free tools for converting PDF to word.
