it is a good question.
To my knowledge, HDB will take over all the old
estates one after another, demolish and build new
estates and allot them to the public(i mean
singaporeans, PRs are not eligible to buy new houses,
as we know).
existing house owner will be given an option to take
position in the new estate or get money from HDB as
per the market value for their old house. (if they opt
for new house, they will be given subsidies from the
govt as per HDB rules,of course). but, PRs can sell
the house in open market if they know well in advance,
(if not, you won't get a buyer)about HDB plans to take
over.
anyhow, PRs will never buy a 100years old house or he
won't stay in singapore for 95years as PR, either will
be back home or converted as a singaporean. am i
right? ;-/
