[EZLINK] Unix System Specialist - Banking client - Contract position - URGENT
Hello Friends,
We are urgently looking for Unix System Specialist to be based in Singapore for a large MNC Banking client.
Will be a member of the 24x7 Unix Global Support team.
Main duties are:
• Providing global production support for Unix and Linux infrastructure while on shift
• Monitoring of global Unix and Linux infrastructure and respond to major alerts
• Resolve problem tickets generated via Remedy ticket tool
• Implement service requests as generated via Remedy ticket tool or GRS tool, e.g. O/S upgrade, IP changes, Printer configuration, group and net-group access, etc.
• Regular verbal and written communication with the customers and other Infrastructure teams to clarify details of issues or service requests and to ensure that work is completed on time.
• Opening cases with Vendors for analysing of crash data and to make arrangements for HW replacements
• Writing technical documentation as required.
• Specialist knowledge of some or all of the following products:
• Veritas: Clustering, Filesystem, Volume Manager, Netbackup
• Linux: Red Hat
• Sun Solaris 2.6 / 8 / 10
• Sun: Disksuite,
• HW: Sun Fire and enterprise product line, Fujitsu PrimePower series, IBM blades, HP, Photon, Baydel and SAN/NAS storage
• Intermediate knowledge or general understanding of the following products:
• Photon, Baydel and SAN/NAS storage
Essential Skills
• 3 to 5 years experience in supporting UNIX based distributed computing environment with at least 200 servers
• Strong analytical and logical skills
• Independent problem solving; self-direction
• Ability to analyse and solve Problems quickly and completely
• Proficiency with most aspects of UNIX system administration; for example systems upgrades, package installations, jump-starting and configuration, printing systems, fundamentals of security, installing third-party software
• Solid understanding of a UNIX-based operating system, preferable Solaris 2.6/8/10 and Redhat Linux,
• Understands paging and swapping, inter-process communication, ,
• Solid understanding of file system, such as: UFS, NFS, disk partitioning, file system tuning, configuring automounts and troubleshooting
• Solid understanding of naming services, such as NIS, DNS. understands basic routing concepts
• Familiarity with fundamental networking / distributed computing environment concepts; can configure NFS and NIS, can use nslookup/dig/snoop/netstat/top, etc. in order to diagnose any Unix related problems
• Ability to write shell and Perl scripts
• Fundamental skills with Veritas Volume Manager, File System, Cluster server and.
• Basic configuration knowledge of Sun Sparc, Fujitsu Prime Power, IBM blade and HP DL servers
• Ability to diagnose core files
• A degree/higher qualification in computer science or a related field.
• Basic understanding of Banking and Finance Business
• Strong inter-personal and communication skills, capable of writing justifications, reports, run-books, etc.
• Ability to educate users in understanding complex topics
Desirable skills
Basics in relational databases such as Oracle or Sybase
• Knowledge of SAN and NAS administration
• programming language
• Knowledge in Vmware
• Knowledge in the standard ITIL processes
• Certification in Solaris, Linux RedHat, Veritas
• Ability to diagnose basic programming issues in C and Java
• General knowledge/understanding of NetInfo on OpenStep OS / Netbackup concepts
Flexible, willing to improve skill sets, open-minded, team worker.
Willing to work shift on 24x7 basis (includes public holidays).
Willing to work extra shift if and as required
