You can carry anything upto 25K if you have stayed in Singapore for more than 3 days and no one can ask you to pay anything !.. simply show them the printout of the custom and excise duty webpage. You could find all the details on http://www.cbec.gov.in/cae/trvlers-info.htm.

Thanks for ur valuable suggestions. I forgot to mention the destination i.e. Hyderabad.
There also the same problem with customs. For laptop and handycam i paid 1000/-rs last time. Even after showing my PR card they didnt leave. I told them that i will take back my things but they didnt listen. I think this problem is through out India.
